How many of those extolling the virtues of Demidov have even seen him play? At least Levshunov, having played in NA for two years, is somewhat familiar, so a more realistic evaluation can be presented. The Moscow junior league cannot be confused with major Junior, or even NCAA. It is a step below. So, Demidov dominating in that league should not be a determining factor.

Demidov should be the pick from a pure talent standpoint. The teams that take the best player available in almost every sport seem to fair better than drafting for need. (i.e. Cayden Lindstrom). The Hawks will probably (hopefully!!!) not get the ugly luxury of having Lottery picks for a while after this season. You can't waste those spots when you get them. I like Lindstrom, not love. Demidov isn't fast. But he makes up for it by creating space and knowing where everyone is one the ice. Bedard needs someone who is his peer in the hockey IQ game.

Bears finished the season 5-3 and just added two top 10 picks including a QB at 1st overall. The hawks have Bedard who is amazing but they were the 2nd worse team in the league

The priority should be to commit to the rebuild. We're not winning with these overpaid Veterans. It would be an atrocious move to sign DeMar to a 40 million dollar per year contract. We're not no where near competitive for a championship to be committing to an aging veteran. We need to move on from Zach, DeMar, and Vucevic. Build a more balanced roster and commit to the youth movement. If we struggle next year so be it. Maybe we get the #1 pick and draft Cooper Flagg. Its time to move on. Continuity = bring back the same squad? Looking at the remaining competing teams in the playoffs, with the new collective bargaining agreement, era of super teams is over. Bulls need to trade everyone and get in position to get draft picks, and setup core set of young players and rebuild. Even Cobe, Ayo, should be on the table. Invest in Williams for now as power forwards that can play defense and shoot threes are premium building blocks. Otherwise we are just aiming for mediocrity for years to come…
